Temporary Contract Opportunities: Tobacco Retail Location Assessors  - Posted March 12, 2026

Pay Rate: $22 an hour plus mileage reimbursement 
Positions Available: 2 
Location: Reno and surrounding geographic areas 
Minimum Requirements: Must be at least aged 21 

Position Description: Nevada Cancer Coalition is hiring for a unique temporary contract position to support a project assessing Nevada’s compliance with the Tobacco 21 law. Two equivalent positions will be hired to work together as a team visiting tobacco retail locations throughout Carson City and Washoe, Douglas, Storey, and Lyon County areas. The team will coordinate and schedule visits to a predetermined number of tobacco retail locations to: 1) visually survey retail locations, 2) conduct assessments, and 3) provide brief educational interventions for tobacco retailer staff. Assessments will include data collection regarding tobacco retail practices for age verification. Brief educational interventions will be conducted following the assessment. Training and materials provided by Nevada Cancer Coalition. 

This is a unique opportunity to develop public health experience, specifically in tobacco prevention, control, and policy. Flexible scheduling and perfect for student experience.
