Pink & Pearl Women's Health Fair

The Breast Center at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center in Las Vegas hosts Pink & Pearl, a women's health fair promoting breast and lung cancer awareness. Join Paint Nevada Pink and a host of vendors for low-cost mammograms, Pearl the Pink Fire Truck, food, health information, refreshments, and a walk through giant inflatable lungs. 

Mammograms can be scheduled in advance by calling 855-445-2246. Walk-ins are welcome on the day of the event.

Las Vegas Sign Lighting for Paint Nevada Pink

We're painting Nevada pink this October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month to spread the word that mammograms save lives! Join us October 3 at 11 a.m. at the famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign as it's lit PINK! Clark County officials will be on hand to declare October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a proclamation. It's a great opportunity to snag a selfie with the sign lit pink.

Bras for a Cause & Reno Arch Celebration

We're kicking off Paint Nevada Pink on October 1 with a celebration at Locomotion Plaza for our Bras for a Cause -- raising awareness for breast cancer screening on blinged out bra at a time. Anyone can register to enter a bra into the event, then get to work decorating it. Pick a theme, make it pretty, make it funny --- just keep it family friendly! We'll showcase all of the bras in a mini fashion show before lighting the Reno Arch pink at 7:30 p.m. 

Join us for the fun. We'll have the street shut down so you can get photos under the pink arch. 

Call to Action: Public Comment for Dental Vaccination Regulations

The Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, to receive comments on the proposed regulation from Assembly Bill 147. The bill allows for the issuance of a special endorsement to dental providers to administer vaccines, pending approval of the regulations.

UNLV Health Walk with a Doc: Cancer Awareness with Dr. Richard Baynosa and Dr. Jennifer Baynosa

UNLV Health's Walk with a Doc is a community event where anyone can come out and walk with a doctor and learn more about certain diseases and conditions. 

This month's feature is Cancer Awareness with Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine's Dr. Richard Baynosa, who specializes in breast reconstruction, and Dr. Jennifer Baynosa, a breast surgical oncologist.

Online Course: Promoting Health Equity in Tobacco Cessation: Evidence Based Behavior Change Strategies

This 30-minute online course from the Community Approaches Hub focuses on practical strategies to improve access to proven tobacco cessation methods, with a focus on populations with low socioeconomic status (SES) characteristics. This course was developed using the Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change as a guiding framework, underscoring best and promising practices in engaging and supporting populations most impacted by tobacco-related disparities.

Webinar: Housing as a Social Determinant of Health Across the Cancer Continuum

Join the Community Approaches Hub for an hour-long webinar exploring how housing as a social determinant of health (SDoH) affects individuals across the cancer care continuum. The webinar will feature guest speakers representing American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Hope Lodge communities and the Council of Large Public Housing Authorities (CLPHA) who will discuss multi-disciplinary opportunities for interventions and relationship-building across sectors.

CELL Series: Nevada's Central Cancer Registry

Join us to learn more about how the Nevada Central Cancer Registry collects and reports data, the role healthcare providers play in cancer data, electronic reporting, and how to request Nevada’s data. This lunchtime presentation will include time for Q&A with our presenters, Nevada State Cancer Epidemiologist Patience Gbafa, MPH and Cancer Registry Manager Aundrea Ogushi.
