When should your child get their vaccines?
Talk with your child's doctor about their vaccination schedule. This schedule is viewed by many scientists and healthcare organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Academy of Family Physicians, as the most beneficial.

With health insurance
If your child has health insurance, most childhood vaccines are fully covered. Your doctor's office may charge for an office visit to give the vaccine.
Without health insurance
If you don't have health insurance, the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program can help. A child is eligible for the VFC Program if he or she is younger than 19 and is Medicaid-eligible, uninsured, underinsured, or American Indian or Alaska Native.
There is no charge for any vaccine given by a VFC provider to eligible children. But there can be some other costs with a vaccination:
- Doctors can charge a fee to give the shot, but if the family can't afford the fee, it must be waived. A VFC-eligible child cannot be refused a vaccination due to the parent's or guardian's inability to pay for shot administration.
- There can be a fee for the office visit.
