Community Invited to Submit Bras for a Cause and Get Screened on Mammovan at Paint Nevada Pink Event
09 September, 2025
Community members and businesses are encouraged to decorate and submit bras to be featured in the lively fashion show and month-long mobile exhibit, all while raising awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.

Entries into Bras for a Cause are $20 for individuals or $75 for businesses. Registration is open now through Sept. 19, and the first 40 entries will be featured on the runway—and modeled by local fraternity brothers—at the Oct. 1 fashion show, held from 5:30–7 p.m. at Locomotion Plaza. All entries will then be displayed at community locations throughout October. Proceeds from entry fees will support breast cancer screening and diagnosis for Nevadans in need.
Adding to the day’s impact, Nevada Health Centers’ Mammovan will be onsite Oct. 1 offering mammogram appointments. Community members can schedule in advance to receive a potentially lifesaving screening before the evening festivities.
“Bras for a Cause is a chance for people to get creative while helping shine a spotlight on breast cancer awareness,” said Sarah Grocki, community engagement manager at Nevada Cancer Coalition. “This year, we’re especially excited to make it easy for people to not just talk about screening, but actually take action by getting a mammogram.”
The evening will conclude with the lighting of the iconic Reno Arch, which will glow pink throughout October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In 2025, an estimated 2,760 Nevadans will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 440 will die of the disease. When caught early through screening, breast cancer has a 99% survival rate. For more information or to register a bra for the event visit PaintNevadaPink.com.
Where to get no-cost and low-cost screenings:
- Nevada Health Centers operates the Mammovan — a mobile mammography van that travels to locations across the state, including many rural communities. The van serves those with or without insurance. To make an appointment, visit their website or call 877-581-6266, option 1.
- The Women’s Health Connection (WHC) program provides breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services to Nevadans 21-64 who are low-income and uninsured or underinsured. If breast or cervical cancer is diagnosed, Women's Health Connection patients may receive treatment through Medicaid. Click or call Access to Healthcare to learn more at 844-469-4934.
