Giant inflatable lungs to tour Nevada in November
10 October, 2026

After an election season that’s taken up plenty of oxygen, Nevada Cancer Coalition is offering Nevadans a breath of fresh air — and a chance to step inside a giant pair of lungs.
The coalition’s giant inflatable lungs will tour health clinics, hospitals, and other community sites during November’s Lung Cancer Awareness Month, bringing a larger-than-life approach to conversations about lung cancer screening. Topping out at 12 feet high and 15 feet wide, each set of lungs is big enough for visitors to walk through the exhibit, snap a photo, and take a breather while learning about a health issue that deserves some airtime.
Those planning to get a photo with the lungs at one of these stops are encouraged to take photos and post them to social networks using hashtags such as #LCAM, #LungCancerAwareness or #LungCancerAwarenessMonth.

The American Lung Association’s 2025 report put Nevada’s lung cancer screening rate at 14%, compared with 18.2% nationally. For comparison, upwards of 60-70% of those eligible for breast or colorectal cancer screening have been screened.
People who are aged 50-80 and have a history of smoking may be eligible for screening. The exam takes just a few minutes and patients don’t even have to change their clothes. It’s a simple low-dose CT scan done once a year that’s covered by most insurance plans.
Partners across the state are working to improve lung cancer screening rates in Nevada, including by opening their doors on Saturday, Nov. 14 for National Lung Cancer Screening Day. NCC is also working to educate physicians and healthcare teams, reduce stigma around lung cancer and screening, and drive awareness so more people know they can get screened.
