2024 Genetics in Health Care Series

Data suggests that many medical professionals have not been formally trained to discuss genetics and genetic screening/testing with their patients and may not be aware of the value of screening for CDC Tier 1 conditions. This series will allow providers to familiarize themselves with language and knowledge of screening recommendations, and clinical indications for genetic counseling, testing, and resources. Providers will engage in discussions on how to incorporate genomic medicine into daily practice and develop personalized care plans.

Each session offers 1.00 of CME/CE Credit or a maximum of 4.0 CME/CE Credits for completion of all four sessions.

Learning Objectives

Following the completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 

• Compare the differences between Genetics and Genomics
• Define the role they may play in genomic medicine
• Evaluate the role of Genetics in Prevention/Health Promotion
• Acknowledge current PCP education about genetics
• Implement information to discuss genetic testing and results with patients
• Examine current integration and use of genetics
• Analyze and Discuss CDC tier 1 conditions and Evidence-based genetics for primary care
• Examine opportunities in include Genomic Medicine within primary care

All sessions will be conducted virtual via Microsoft Teams. The UNR CME office, in partnership with Renown, is proud to announce this CME event is free.

The conference registration deadlines are:

• Monday, 3/11 for the 3/12 session
• Monday, 4/15 for the 4/17 session
• Monday 5/13 for the 5/15 session
