Caregiver Tools Can Ease a Stressful Time

Caregivers are the unsung heroes of the cancer care team, absorbing the many ripples cancer causes and helping their loved one deal with diagnosis, treatment, and life beyond cancer. While we celebrate caregivers all year long, there’s a special focus on them each November, recognized as National Family Caregivers Month.

This month for caregivers is not just an opportunity to honor them and the tireless work they put in to care for their loved one. It’s also a chance to raise awareness of caregiving issues and increase support.

Ivonne, Case Manager, Community Clinic Partner, Northern Nevada

Working together with ThriveNV, specifically with Amy Thompson, made all the difference when it came to giving our mutual patient the resources and the help he needed to get back to good health. By having the support and input of ThriveNV, I found the necessary tools to pave a clear and easy path for him. As a patient, navigating the healthcare system is not an easy task, so as providers it is our job to go the extra mile and work with other healthcare disciplines in order to provide the necessary services.

Liz, FQHC Cancer Care Coordinator, Community Clinic Partner, Northern Nevada

With the help of ThriveNV and the Nevada Cancer Coalition, CHA has been able to stay up to date on patient resources, whether it's cancer prevention or cancer treatment this Coalition knows it all. Throughout the years, we have collaborated on cancer prevention projects and patient navigation. I am always amazed by the entire staff and their extensive knowledge of community resources. Staff is always available and eager to help. The majority of our patients within CHA are Hispanic/Latino, knowing little to no English.
